Whole Foods Features First Graduate!

To support our students, First Graduate relies on the generosity of donors in the community, such as Whole Foods Market, Franklin.

Every quarter, Whole Foods Market selects charities for a program called Nickels for Nonprofits. Through this program, customers can support local organizations by bringing in their own bags for groceries. For each bag, the store donates 5¢. The program encourages recycling and provides an easy way for shoppers to give to local nonprofits.

The Whole Foods Market Franklin store at 1765 California Street in San Francisco has chosen First Graduate as the exclusive recipient of these funds for one month, beginning January 17 through Sunday, February 13.  “Whole Foods Market Franklin chose First Graduate because it is a local organization based in our store’s backyard,” says Paige Lansing, Marketing Team Leader at Whole Foods Market, Franklin. “We admire the strong support from First Graduate staff, board members and volunteers who have demonstrated commitment to the educational advancement of San Franciscan youth.”

With the active participation of the community, First Graduate and Whole Foods can anticipate raising as much as $1,000 for our college success program! Those funds help cover the cost of the many free services we provide our students, such as:

  • students’ college application fees
  • college admission testing and reporting
  • AP testing and reporting
  • healthy snacks during after-school tutoring

First Graduate is grateful for the support of Whole Foods and shoppers who contribute to the program!
