Events: CAP & GOWN
SAVE THE DATE for the 4th Annual CAP & GOWN which will be held on June 12, 2009 at San Francisco City Hall.
First Graduate held its first CAP & GOWN on June 17, 2006 in the LucasFilm facilities at the Letterman Digital Arts Center in the Presidio. This event is a celebration of college achievement and an opportunity to honor the first in family to have graduated college and an evening full of entertainment, catered food, dancing and good cheer.
We present the First In Family Award each year to a member of the community who was the first in their family to graduate from college and who stands as an example of the great opportunities that can be afforded through a college education. Some past award recipients include Chuck Smith, former President & CEO of AT&T West; Dr. Robert J. Birgeneau, Chancellor of UC Berkeley; and Alejandro Toledo, President of Peru from 2001-2006.
The 2008 CAP & GOWN was held on Friday May 16th at San Francisco City Hall. Carol Bartz, the former CEO of Autodesk and Executive Chairman of its Board of Directors as well as the current President and CEO of Yahoo, Inc., was the recipient of the First in Family Award.
