Events: Discovery Day
First Graduate accepts 24 new students every summer. We hold an annual Discovery Day where staff and community volunteers meet and evaluate program applicants through a daylong series of group projects and individual interviews designed to indicate students’ capacity to benefit from First Graduate’s program. After Discovery Day, staff members review applications and evaluations and, with the consideration of other criteria such as parent or guardian participation, select 24 students to begin the program that summer.
First Graduate’s program is designed to improve competencies so that our students will succeed in the rigorous, competitive environments they will encounter in college-prep high schools and later in college.
