Pillars of Achievement

First Graduate helps students fulfill their dreams of becoming the first in their families to graduate from college by holding youth accountable to high expectations. They include:

Ownership

  • Students and families take ownership of their academic experience by attending all academic school and First Graduate program events and activities
  • Students and families take the responsibility to immediately communicate any academic and/or social issues to First Graduate staff
  • Students are held accountable for their goal of graduating from college by taking the necessary steps to complete all program requirements

Respect

  • Students set an example by respecting the members of their schools and communities
  • Students respect themselves and are mindful of how their behavior shapes opportunities and achievements
  • Students recognize the unique opportunity provided by First Graduate and respect all members of our community

Effort

  • Students exert maximum effort on all First Graduate and school-related endeavors, especially when they are the most challenging
  • Students make the effort to surpass their expectations by creating and taking advantage of new opportunities
