Making Change, One Child at a Time
Yvette Ramirez, a First Graduate Senior at Harvard University, was just recognized as a “Champion of Change” (Agente de Cambio) - a part of President Obama’s “Winning the Future” initiative (whitehouse.gov/champions).
Over the next few weeks, thousands of students will head off to college for freshman year. Given the dismal statistics on high school graduation rates, setting foot on campus is a special accomplishment for students whose parents didn't attend college.
First Graduate received the "Best Graduation Guidance" award in the San Francisco Bay Guardian's Best of the Bay competition for 2011.
First Graduate was included in an article on Philanthropy.com about the "Four Ways Non Profits Can Use Video to Create Change" on May 26, 2011.
The article features the First Graduate FG1 video with Daisy, Lourdes, Jodie and Alex’s testimonials about what it means to be the first in their families to graduate from college.

We are proud to announce that our high school seniors will graduate this spring and enroll in colleges and universities nationwide, from the University of San Francisco to Pepperdine University to Harvard University.
Join students, parents, staff, board members and a growing number of community and corporate champions like 7x7, San Francisco Business Times, Union Bank, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Dodge & Cox, Morrison & Foerster Foundation, Gordon & Rees, LLP as we toast the first college graduates in First Graduate's history and honor Chief Foundation Officer at Gap Inc., Bobbi Silten, on Friday, May 6, 2011 at San Francisco City Hall.
It is not too late to celebrate!
To be successful in school and beyond, students need to build social skills as well as academics. At First Graduate, we help our high school students develop their whole selves with a monthly program called Mosaic.
To support our students, First Graduate relies on the generosity of donors in the community, such as Whole Foods Market, Franklin.
