Vision

First Graduate envisions a future in which all families in San Francisco and beyond can establish a college-going tradition. We believe that a college diploma is the best way to:

  • break the cycle of poverty within families
  • build a productive, educated workforce
  • foster an engaged and active citizenry

Toward this end, First Graduate aspires to become the premier college access and success program in the Bay Area, and a vital partner in effective local, state, and national efforts to ensure that a college education is the first option for all students.

Richard A. Carranza

As the Superintendent for Instruction, Innovation and Social Justice Richard Carranza leads the implementation of the district’s equity-focused strategic plan.

Under his leadership, student achievement has increased significantly, and he has overseen a redesign of the district’s central office as well as the implementation of a core instructional curriculum to create more equitable educational results for all students.
